My story of helping others with daily activities began with two lovely, English sisters many decades ago. They were my sweet neighbors across the street for many years. As they aged, I volunteered to help them whenever they needed. It made us both feel good and we developed a real friendship. The sisters became elderly (93 and 95 years old), and each eventually developed cancer consecutively; I had the privilege of helping them each navigate this last stage of their lives. I will always remember my two friends whom I learned so much from, and how they cultivated the interest in me to be there for others in a significant way. I derive great satisfaction from improving someone's life and being needed and trusted.
My livelihood over the years has involved many interests of mine along the way:
-
bookkeeping, accounting assistant
-
organizer of spaces/ possessions/ paperwork
-
secretary/personal assistant to a retired executive couple for 16 years
-
repairing/restoring fine art
-
weekend respite care for an older couple’s adult son who had severe brain damage
-
CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at a local long-term, skilled nursing facility
-
volunteered helping with activities of daily living
I have enjoyed all these areas of interest, and many more, but I have to say I have enjoyed caring for the life-needs of others the most; this is why I began my business —to care for the health, emotional, and comfort needs of others. I believe I make a positive difference in the lives of people that I assist and would like to continue serving in this capacity.
